Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation surgery is the most popular plastic surgery procedure in the United States and enhances the breast’s appearance by increasing the size. Some women may have naturally small breasts or have lost volume due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations. Breast augmentation surgery is a breast enhancement procedure that adds volume and shape to the breast using breast implants. Breast augmentation is a highly customizable procedure. You will choose from a variety of options that will determine the characteristics of your implants and the method used to place them. For your implants, you will select the implant material, shape, size, and placement. These characteristics will determine not only the size of the breasts but also their feel and projection.

Breast augmentation improves the breasts’ symmetry and helps ensure that the breasts are proportional to the body. If you are experiencing breast significant breast sagging, you may consider combining breast augmentation with breast lift surgery. This combination helps to elevate the breast’s position and improve contours while also adding volume to the breasts. During your consultation, your surgeon will advise you whether a breast lift would help you achieve your goals. Recovery after a breast augmentation will vary, but most patients can return to regular activities after one week.

Breast Lift

Most people may think a breast lift is only a solution for aging breasts. Instead, sagging and deflation in the breasts can be caused by a variety of factors, including pregnancy, breastfeeding, dramatic weight fluctuations, and in some cases, puberty. These life changes can cause the breasts to lose their perkiness and fullness, creating the appearance of deflated breasts. A breast lift (mastopexy) is a breast enhancement procedure that improves or restores the shape and appearance of the breasts. This surgical procedure trims excess skin, tightens glandular tissue, repositions the nipple-areola complex, and elevates the position of the breasts. The incisions used during your breast lift will depend on the level of ptosis (sagging) you would like to have corrected.

A breast lift is very effective for improving breast shape, but if you would like more dramatic improvements in breast volume and projection, you may want to combine your breast lift with breast augmentation. Breast augmentation can add significant volume and shape using breast implants. Recovery after a breast lift varies depending on the level of correction performed, but most patients can return to regular activities after one week.

Breast Reduction

Having full breasts is something that many women desire, but large breasts can also be a chore and unwanted hassle. For women struggling with overly large breasts, breast reduction surgery may be able to help. When the breasts become too large, they can begin to cause physical discomfort in places such as the neck, shoulders, back, and chest. Large breasts can also cause skin issues like chafing and irritation and limit clothing options. If you are dealing with any of these issues, a breast reduction removes excess skin, fat, and glandular tissues from the breasts to make them smaller while also ensuring that they remain proportional to the rest of the body. There are various techniques available for performing breast reduction, and the technique used will depend on the extent of correction needed.

Breast reduction surgery is often combined with a breast lift. A breast lift effectively improves the shape of the breasts and elevates them so that youthful contours can be restored. Recovery after a breast reduction will vary depending on the extent of correction, but most patients can return to regular activities after 10 days.

Breast Implant Exchange

Women consider breast implant exchange to adjust the volume and shape of their already augmented breasts to better suit their needs and cosmetic desires or when they experience an implant-related complication, such as rupture, capsular contracture, or implant displacement.

Breast implant exchange removes the unwanted or damaged implant and replaces it with healthy implants. These replacement implants can be larger, smaller, or the same size as your previous ones. This secondary breast surgery allows women to fine-tune or repair their augmented breasts whether they experience a change in aesthetic preference or weight fluctuations and pregnancies have changed how they perceive their enhanced breasts. Incisions are often made along the inframammary fold to remove and replace the implants. Breast implant exchange can be combined with a breast lift to tighten and elevate your breasts if needed.

Breast Implant Removal

Some women who’ve had a previous breast augmentation decide that implants are no longer for them and wish to remove them permanently. This breast revision procedure can help women whose implants no longer suit their aesthetic desires or lifestyles or who have experienced a health complication that makes them wary of their implants, such as BIA-ALCL or BII.

Breast implant removal is performed similarly to breast implant exchange, except a replacement implant is not added. For some women, the implant can simply be removed and the pocket closed; however, for others, more extensive techniques, like a combined breast lift or capsulectomy, are needed to ensure breast health and aesthetic appeal.
