It is a known fact that the holiday season is filled with get-togethers, parties, and less-than-healthy foods. This can be challenging for patients after liposuction and other body contouring treatment as holiday weight gain is a real concern.

With the holidays coming up, eating a lot of calorie-rich food can quickly diminish your liposuction results since gaining extra weight causes the remaining fat cells in your body to expand. 

While you might think that you have to restrict yourself from indulging in all the feasts and activities that are scheduled for the season, the truth is that you do not have to deprive yourself fully. 

Here are some tips to help you keep your liposuction results at their peak.

1. Stay Active

Do not slack on your routine exercise just because it’s the holiday season. You do not necessarily need the gym. A stroll or jog with your loved ones, taking the stairs instead of the elevator, a hike, bike ride, or a game of tennis, basketball, or whatever you enjoy is a great way to stay physically active and keep those extra pounds off.

2. Portion Awareness

Checking our food portions is a great way to manage and maintain your weight. Delicious servings will be in plenty, but this is the time to not go overboard on portion sizes. 

To avoid overindulging, eat numerous small meals during the day to help retain high levels of energy and stave off imminent hunger pangs. You want to avoid skipping meals to save your appetite for dinner.

3. Fill Up on Healthy Food

With the large feasts of the holidays, it can be tempting to stay away from all the mouth-watering steaks, holiday cookies, and baked treats. 

As a tip, try to fill up more on whole grains, lean proteins, fresh vegetables, and fruits. That way, even if the tempting treats come, you can eat within reason. Go easy on the alcohol and cocktails, too, as these are often full of extra sugar and calories, which can alter your waistline.

4. Drink Enough Water Everyday

Water is not only calorie-free but is a great way to control hunger pains while maintaining a healthy metabolism. So make sure you stay hydrated all through the day.

Maintaining your liposuction results during the holiday season does not have to be difficult. Although it can be tempting to fall back into old habits, if you stay committed to a healthy lifestyle that incorporates staying active and making healthy food choices, you are bound to notice tremendous, long-term benefits from your liposuction procedure.
