While the appearance of augmented breasts will not change as much as some other regions in response to weight fluctuations, they can still be impacted by significant weight gain or weight loss.
Weight fluctuations can impact the appearance of your breast implants.
Fluctuations caused by weight gain, loss, or pregnancy alters the way your implants sit on your chest, and even though these changes will have no effect on the implants themselves, they can affect the shape, size, or projection of augmented breasts.
Will My Implants Change After Weight Gain?
Significant weight gain increases the amount of fatty tissue in the breasts, which may simply give the breasts a fuller appearance or may change the shape or symmetry of the breasts entirely.
Depending on how much and where the fatty tissue develops, the implants may be pushed in different directions in the breast.
This can lead to asymmetrical breasts or breasts that are not as aesthetically pleasing.
Will My Implants Change After Weight Loss?
Weight loss also impacts the amount of fatty tissue.
The reduction of this tissue can cause tissue laxity if the loss is significant enough. Tissue laxity will not affect the impact the integrity of the implant, but it may alter the way that the implant is being held in the breast pocket.
Weight loss is traditionally not a huge concern for women who choose breast augmentation because they often do not have a significant amount of fatty tissue to begin with.
Will My Implants Change After Pregnancy?
Whether or not you have implants, pregnancy and breastfeeding will take a toll on your breasts.
Pregnancy causes weight gain and weight loss in the breasts, and this rapid fluctuation impacts the appearance of natural or augmented breasts.
During your pregnancy, the tissues around the implant swell due to milk production. And while implants do not typically get in the way of breastfeeding, breastfeeding can impact the appearance of the breasts.
Augmented breasts can become larger or smaller after childbirth, and the roller coaster-like fluctuation can lead to premature breast sagging.
Will I Need Additional Surgery?
You will undoubtedly notice a shift in the appearance of your augmented breasts if significant weight gain or loss is experienced.
Often, these changes will only be noticeable to you; however, if you are displeased by the visible changes, additional breast enhancement surgery can be performed.

Implant exchange is a secondary breast surgery that allows a woman to change her implants for larger or smaller ones.
Changing the size of the implants will allow you to maintain a similar breast appearance to what you had before the fluctuation of the bustline.
Alternatively, breast lift surgery can improve the appearance of sagging or deflated breasts that developed because of weight loss or pregnancy.
This technique raises augmented breasts to restore youthfulness and perkiness.
